“Birth and dying are part of the way things are. When we understand that dying is just a part of the way things are, we will not be afraid of death… ‘Death’ is what we call the mere cessation of the present grouping of our five skandhas. Actually, however, it is the stream of consciousness that we may call the ‘I’ or ‘self.’ The stream of consciousness does not cease at the time of death; it continues. Therefore, from this perspective, we may say to ourselves, ‘I will not die.’”
